sea_surface_wave_significant_height

Significant wave height is a statistic computed from wave measurements and corresponds to the average height of the highest one third of the waves, where the height is defined as the vertical distance from a wave trough to the following wave crest.

    significant_height_of_wind_and_swell_waves

Height is the vertical distance above the surface. Wind waves are waves on the ocean surface. Wind waves and swell waves are waves on the ocean surface. Wind is defined as a two-dimensional (horizontal) air velocity vector, with no vertical component. (Vertical motion in the atmosphere has the standard name upward_air_velocity.)
