Term: mass_concentration_of_phaeopigments_in_sea_ice
Unit: kg m-3
Unit ref: UKMC
AMIP:
GRIB:
'Mass concentration' means mass per unit volume and is used in the construction mass_concentration_of_X_in_Y, where X is a material constituent of Y. A chemical or biological species denoted by X may be described by a single term such as 'nitrogen' or a phrase such as 'nox_expressed_as_nitrogen'. Phaeopigments are non-photosynthetic pigments that are the degradation product of algal chlorophyll pigments. It is commonly formed during and after marine phytoplankton blooms. "Sea ice" means all ice floating in the sea which has formed from freezing sea water, rather than by other processes such as calving of land ice to form icebergs.
